Lila L. Graybill

d. August 12, 2012

Lila Lucille Graybill, age 70 years, 4 months and 25 days, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at her home. She was born on March 17, 1942, in Anderson County, Kansas, triplet daughter of Marvin and Mildred (Wagoner) Davison. Mommy had many cherished memories of her childhood days with her brothers and sisters on the family farm. On September 1, 1957, she answered the Master's call and was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church in the Cedar Creek district. Just a few weeks before her passing, on August 12, 2012, she became a member of the Grandview Dunkard Brethren Church. Lila was united in marriage to Carl David Graybill on August 10, 1963, in Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with six children; two sons and four daughters. They lived in Harris, Kansas, after their marriage, and then moved to Ohio for a short time. Then they moved back to Kansas in 1968, living near Westphalia. They shared the joys and sorrows of life for 34 years. This union was broken on October 10, 1997 with her husband Carl's death in an auto accident. She was a lifetime homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and singing. In the latter part of their married life they traveled the country in a semi-truck, getting to see family and friends, and making many new friends. These travels afforded her the opportunity to enjoy seeing and photographing God's creations. On July 16, 2012, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Her last days were spent in her home, while her family lovingly cared for her. She was anointed on July 22, 2012, which brought her much comfort. The uncomplaining way in which she endured her illness was an example of her meek and quiet spirit. She was also preceded in death by her father, Marvin Davison; two grandchildren, Tamara Riffey and Chad Graybill; great granddaughter, Rael Graybill; parents-in-law, Henry and Nannie Graybill; sister, Leanna Mohler and husband Raymond; three brothers-in law, Charles Graybill, Jack Tatom, and Melvin Cook; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Wrightsman. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends, including her six children and their companions; Brian Graybill and wife Margaret of Ellensburg, Washington; Diane Riffey and husband John of Wonewoc, Wisconsin; Leann Wolf and husband Terry of Quinter, Kansas; Cheryl Riffey and husband Aaron of Wonewoc, Wisconsin; Darla Graybill of Lafayette, Indiana; David Graybill and wife Kristy of Flora, Indiana; twenty-three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; her mother, Mildred Davison; one sister, Laura Bauman and husband Glen; her triplet brothers, Lyle Davison and wife Charlene; Lelland Davison and wife Donna; brother, Leonard Davison and wife Eleanor, all of Garnett, Kansas; six sisters-in-law, Betty Graybill of Princeton, Kansas; Olive Tatom of Tampa, Florida; Alice Huffman of Dublin, Ohio; Martha Francis and husband John Greenville, Ohio; Ella Cook of Silverlake, Indiana; Lois Van Ausdal and husband Rodger of Hillsboro, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Paul Wrightsman of North Manchester, Indiana; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. She will be greatly missed, but our loss is her eternal gain. We cherish her example as a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. "The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." The Family Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Garnett Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, rural Westphalia. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
