Lillie McAloon

Lillie McAloon, 93, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, September 26, 2014, at Windsor Place in Iola. Lillie was born October 20, 1920, in Geneva, Kansas, the daughter of Tal and Media (Klages) Sherwood. She attended the County Line Country School. On February 16, 1941, Lillie married Bernard McAloon. They lived and farmed near Geneva, LaHarpe, and Bronson before selling out in 1956 and moving to Iola. She managed the Peter Pan Ice Cream Store and then worked for Miller's Dress Factory before retiring in 1983. Bernard preceded her in death May 15, 1999. She was a member of the Moran Christian Church. SURVIVORS: Her 4 Children: Barbara Kirkes of Marlow, OK, Dian Lewis of Victoria, TX, Janet McBride of Moran, KS and Pat McAloon & wife, Laurie of Moran, KS 8 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sons-in-law, Eugene Kirkes, Bill Lewis and Jack McBride, and by 4 siblings, Jim, Fred, & Ferris Sherwood and Helen Link. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at the Geneva Cemetery northwest of Iola.
