Linda Sue Benjamin, age 78, of Garnett, Kansas passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019.
Linda was born October 5, 1941, in Topeka, Kansas. She was the first of two children born to Orville E. and Virgil Irene (McHenry) Brown. Her family moved to Garnett when she was three years old. Linda attended school in Garnett, graduating with the class of 1959. On July 30, 1959, Linda was united in marriage to Gary Benjamin in Garnett. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Their union was blessed with one son, Stanley E. Benjamin. Linda worked in the office of Garnett Truck & Tractor for her father for several years before she and Gary purchased the business. They owned and operated the business until 1982. She then worked as the secretary for Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel for several years, before going to work at the Southeast Kansas Mental Health Center, retiring in 2006. Linda was an active member of the Garnett First Christian Church for many years. In their retirement years Linda and Gary were able to spend the winter months in Arizona and traveling throughout the country in their RV. She especially enjoyed their trip to Alaska. Linda looked forward to spending time with her family at the holidays. She planned each year to make the event special. She celebrated fifty years of making and decorating Christmas cookies with the family, a tradition that all of the family enjoyed.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bruce E. Brown and sister-in-law, Marlys Hayden.
She is survived by her husband, Gary of the home; son, Stan Benjamin and wife, Wala of Platte City, Missouri; two grandsons, Bruce Benjamin and Kayla Forsythe and Brandon Benjamin; niece, Traci Thelen and husband, Joe and daughters, Jordan and Riley; two brothers-in-law, Claron Benjamin and wife, Sherry and Marvin Benjamin and wife, Janet.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at the First Christian Church, Garnett. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Garnett.
