Lloyd O. Claunch, 58, of rural Colony, Kansas, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at his home. Lloyd was born December 4, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John and Helen (Snyder) Claunch. He graduated from William Chrisman High School. On April 12, 1968, Lloyd married Jeanette Caldwell and they made their home in Independence, Missouri. He continued his education at Central Missouri State College. They moved to Raytown, Missouri where he worked 16 years for Allis Chalmers before moving to Iola, Kansas in 1988. In Iola, he worked for Haldex as their manufacturing manager. Lloyd and Jeanette have lived on a farm west of Colony since 1996 where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Aliceville and had previously served as Allen County Democratic Committeeman and president of the Iola Chamber of Commerce. SURVIVORS: His wife: Jeanette Claunch of the home His two daughters: Deanna Rutland of Raymore, MO; and Valerie Friess of Overland Park, KS His 3 Grandchildren: Shelby Rutland, Zachary Leon and Cole Friess 1 Sister: Vivian Marrs & husband, Roy of Independence, MO 1 Half-Sister: Jenette McCarty of Cross Timbers, MO He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose McCann. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, Kansas. FUNERAL SERVICE: 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, Kansas. The Vicar Luther C. "Luke" Brown will officiate. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, Kansas, which is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences for the family may be left on this website.
