Irene Heisler

Lois Irene Heisler, age 90, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away January 2, 2023, at Diversicare Nursing Home, Chanute, Kansas. Irene was born June 24, 1932, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to William P. Martin and Opal (Manley) Martin.

Irene graduated from high school in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She and Clifford Heisler were married April 10, 1951, in Perry, Oklahoma.

Irene worked as a telephone operator in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Later, after her marriage, she worked at the LaHarpe Grocery Store, then she drove a school bus before she worked in the medical field as a nurse's aid.

Her first love was her Heavenly Father. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and she placed her love and trust in Him. Irene had unconditional love for her family and friends. She enjoyed quilting and made dozens of quilts for her family and friends. She was known for her generous hospitality, helping her husband, Clifford, on the farm, cooking delicious meals for her family and friends, and she loved being a servant to others. She was always positive and she was a beacon for her grandchildren. Irene liked playing games and doing word search.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her parents, Bill and Opal; brother-in-law, Fred Beekman; granddaughter-in-law, Carla Peck; and great-granddaughter, Kohlie Crawford.

Irene is survived by her children, Shirley (Jeff) Peck, Max (Beverly) Heisler, Beth (Rick) Queen, Ken (Laura) Heisler; eleven grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and siblings, Anna Lou Beekman, Bill (Marlys) Martin, Edna (Donald) Updegrove, Ruby (Frank) Camp.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service honoring Irene's life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to Redbud Canyon Assisted Living, which may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
