Lois Gay Lester, 66, of rural Erie, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, surrounded by her family at home. Lois was born Sept. 9, 1948, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Dale and Donna (Clay) Sigler. She grew up in Iola, graduating from Iola High School in 1966. On Oct. 7, 1966, Lois married Jerry L. Lester in Wichita, Kansas. They made their home in Iola, Chanute and Sedan before settling in the country west of Stark. Lois was a homemaker with a passion for genealogy. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Iola. She spent most of her time doing genealogy with the Chanute Genealogical Society and the LDS Family History Center in Iola, Kansas. SURVIVORS: Her husband of almost 48 years: Jerry L. Lester of the home 4 Children: Melissa G. Lester of Chanute, KS, Gina M. Taylor & Darin Robertson of Gas, KS, Jerry G. Lester & wife, Angie of Afton, OK and Jennifer J. Lester of Neosho, MO 8 Grandchildren: Marty Gumble of Chanute, Megan Lester of Fargo, ND, Ashlyn & Cody Taylor of Gas/Stark, Dawson Robertson of Gas, Brody Lester of Afton, OK, Gabby Gann of Erie, KS and Abby Lester of Neosho, MO 3 Great Grandchildren: Gabe, Zeke & Sophie Gumble of Chanute, KS 4 Siblings: Janet Grady & husband, Mike of Stockton, MO, Linda Callahan & husband, Bruce of Branson West, MO, Kenneth Sigler & wife, Linda of Iola and Diana Sigler of Iola She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 grandchildren, Matthew J.H. Gumble in Nov. 1989 and Cerea Ce Nedra Reed in March 2014. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 1:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Fairview Cemetery at Mildred, Kansas MEMORIAL: Horizon Hospice Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
