Lorene Scheer

Lorene Louise Scheer, 82 of Iola, Kansas, started to live Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Allen County Regional Hospital. Lorene was born January 16, 1932, in Vian, Oklahoma, the daughter of Johnnie and Annie (Morris) Yocham. The family moved to rural Iola in 1947. In 1950, Lorene married Bob Scheer. She worked a short time for Miller Dress Factory before becoming a nurse. She worked 14 years at McAtee Nursing Home, a short time at Countryside Estates, and then for Dr. Lenski until she retired. Mr. Scheer preceded her in death January 1, 1983. Lorene was a member of Community Baptist Church and enjoyed singing, sewing and her vegetable garden. SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Bob Scheer & wife, Marlene of Mildred, KS 1 Daughter: Bonnie Marlene Morgan of Merriam, KS 1 Sister: Sue Scott of Delia, KS 6 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, infant son Benny and son Bill Scheer, brothers James, Fred, Johnnie, Don & Bill Yocham, and sisters Loretta Thompson, Petsy Reed, Ruby Hatfield and Bertha Hall. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
