Loretta Y. Slyter

October 22, 1962 — January 21, 2023

Loretta Y. Hancock Slyter, age 60, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023, peacefully in her home with her husband and family by her side.

Loretta was born on October 22, 1962, in Tampa, Florida. She was the youngest of four children born to Rufus Leamon "RL" Hancock and Mary Lou (Coffey) Hancock.

Loretta served as the Greeley City Marshall and worked for the Anderson County Sheriff's Department. She also worked at her family's restaurants, was a CNA, and worked many other jobs. "Jack of all trades, master of none" she would say.

Loretta married Jerry Slyter in 1981 and was blessed with two children. Curt and Crystal Slyter. Loretta enjoyed many hobbies, including camping, crocheting, casinos, and trips to Colorado to Curtis and Mary Ann Slyter's cabin. Loretta loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs, playing cards with family and friends, watching westerns, socializing, and cookouts.

Loretta was known for her big heart, always opening her home to everyone near and far, she was an amazing wife, mom, mother-in-law, grandma, cousin, aunt, and friend. She was the backbone of her family. She cared enough about everyone to keep in constant contact with her loved ones. When tragedy hit her family or friends she would be the first one there to assist in anyway she could. God broke the mold when he made Loretta. Her passing will leave a void in so many hearts but she will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers, Ed and Mike Lewis and her sister, Mary Lois Young.

Loretta is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Jerry, her children, Curt and Lindsey Slyter of Welda, Crystal Slyter of Topeka, and 8 grandchildren; Ciara Nicole Crews, Charlie Ray Slyter, Tatum Rae Slyter, Zoey Beth Slyter, Marlie Renee Bouse, Owen Anthony Falk, Wyatt Joseph Falk, and Emery Lee Bouse.

The family would like to give special thanks to Good Shepard and especially Randa Teagarden for all your love and compassion.

Loretta's family is planning services for a later date. Condolences may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com .
