Lorraine D. Manbeck

Lorraine D. Manbeck, age 90, of Moran, Kansas passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Allen County Hospital, Iola, Kansas. She was the first of two daughters born to Edward Clyde Canfield and Carrie Opal (Sinclair) Canfield. Lorraine was born February 20, 1923 at Chicago, Illinois. Her family moved to Mildred, Kansas when she was a young girl. She was the Valedictorian of her graduating class from Mildred High School. On June 28, 1941 she was united in marriage to Edward Thomas Manbeck in the Mildred United Methodist Church. This union was blessed with two children, Gary and Kathy. Lorraine was a farmer's wife and stayed busy with all of the responsibilities of the farm. She was also a dedicated member of the Hope Chapel Assembly of God Church and she taught many bible study classes in the Moran and Uniontown area. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on July 5, 2000; and her sister, Opal Helen Jewett. She is survived by her two children, Garland "Gary" Manbeck and wife, Judy of Chanute, Kansas, and Kathlena "Kathy" Ryan of Cypress, Texas; five grandchildren, Monte, Scott and Keith Manbeck, Crystal Vaughn and Travas Townsend; and ten great grandchildren, Sydney, Bennett, Mark, Kevin, Lori, Marissa, Katie, Jacob, Kyler and Mason. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Hope Chapel Assembly of God Church, Moran, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Golden Valley Cemetery, Moran, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
