Lou Arnett

Lou Arnett, 80, of LaHarpe, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016, at the Moran Manor. Lou was born August 20, 1935, in rural Girard, Kansas, the daughter of William August and Jennie E. (Nourse) Gericke. She grew up in the Shaw and Chanute areas. On January 26, 1952, Lou married Robert D. Arnett. They made their home in Chanute until 1966 when they moved to Iola. In 1980 they moved to LaHarpe. She worked for Herff-Jones in Iola for over 25 years. Her husband preceded her in death October 4, 2013. Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Higinbotham and husband, Don of LaHarpe, 3 grandchildren, Carey Dean, Chris Dean, and Michael Weiland and wife, Sue, 4 great grandchildren, Michael Weiland, Orion Nicholas, Melany Dean, and Taylor Crawford and wife, Danielle, and 1 great great grandson, Titan Crawford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers Wayne and Robert Gericke. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at the Shaw Cemetery southeast of Chanute, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) and may be left with the Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
