Louis Egidy, age 94, of Greeley, KS, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at his home. He was born on January 30, 1916 in Greeley, Kansas, the son of Adolph and Josephine (Kratzberg) Egidy. Louis joined the United States Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He served at the Battle of the Bulge. Louis married Etta Setter on May 22, 1944 in Greeley, Kansas. This union was blessed with three sons. Louis loved to coon hunt, fish and especially loved the KU basketball and the Royals baseball games. He loved to read and kept his mind sharp. Louis was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church and the V.F.W. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Josephine Egidy; one son, Bernie Egidy in 2008; two brothers, Frank Egidy and Ralph Egidy; two sisters, Martina Rues and Sister Theresa Egidy. Louis is survived by his wife, Etta Egidy, of the home; two sons, Larry Egidy and Linda of Warsaw, Missouri and Paul Egidy and Cindy of Olathe, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Kay Egidy of Olathe, Kansas; one sister, Mary Oswald of Overland Park, KS; Six grandchildren, Coleen Salman, Dana Yaghmour, Holly Egidy, Bernard Egidy, Amber Elliott, and Tyler Egidy; Five great grandchildren, Kaylin Salmen, Mason Salmen, Vanessa Yaghmour, Lauren Yaghmour, and Danielle Yaghmour. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley. Burial to follow in the St. John's Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends following the rosary on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Building Fund.
