Louise Hedman, 83, of Iola, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2016. Louise was born in Humboldt on May 3, 1932, the daughter of Leslie and Mildred Grennell. Louise was employed at the Allen County Sheriff''s Department from 1981 to 1999. She served in various capacities including being appointed as the first female under sheriff to serve Allen County. Prior to that she worked for Iola Greenhouse and Milne and Mann. She was a member of the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers. Survivors include her children, David and wife Becky of Gardner, KS, Jim and wife Karol of Tennyson, IN, Jeannie Michael and husband John of Emporia, KS, and Mike and wife Becky of LaHarpe, KS; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence James Hedman, Jr., and brothers Lee Grennell and Glen Grennell. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2016, at the Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel in Iola, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt. Memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) or Wings Of Warriors Cancer Foundation of Allen County.
