Lucille Rockers, age 77, of Garnett, Kansas passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at her home in Garnett. Helen Lucille Volz was the tenth of thirteen children born to Paul and Teresa E. (Hastert) Volz. She was born on January 22, 1941 at Greeley, Kansas. She grew up at Greeley, graduating from Greeley High School with the class of 1959. She married Lyle "Butch" Rockers on August 6, 1960 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Greeley. Their union was blessed with four children. They made their home on a farm near Scipio, before moving to their dairy farm southwest of Greeley. In 1986 they moved from the farm into Garnett. Lucille owned and operated Rockers Liquor in Garnett for 31 years, retiring in 2012. Lucille enjoyed her customers at the liquor store and getting to meet people. She was an excellent cook; she will be remembered for her fried chicken, baked beans and gooseberry cobbler, and sauerkraut. In her younger days, Lucille enjoyed riding horses. Lucille loved her cats and dogs, cold beer, long drives, and ice cream. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Paul Edwin "Eddy", Maurice Louis, Jonnie James, Leo Guy, and Anthony Bernard "Tony", Robert Volz; and three sisters, Theresa Marie Guilfoyle, Florence Irene Mader Justice, Mary Agnes Rockers. Lucille is survived by her husband, Lyle "Butch" of the home; children Bruce Rockers and wife, Chris, Laurinda Sobba and husband, Doyle, Brian Rockers and wife, Julie and Eric J. Rockers; eight grandchildren, Jamie Rockers, Kaleb Rockers, and Reagan Rockers and husband, Nick Warry, Shelby Reed and husband, Ryan, Zach Sobba, Jessica Rockers, Bailee Hermreck and husband, Seth, and Ryelee Rockers; great-granddaughter, Addilynn Reed; three sisters, Marjorie Fields of Portland, Oregon, Edna Kellerman of Garnett, Kansas, Barbara Katzer and husband Ben of Garnett; many nieces, nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio. The family will greet friends following a 6:30 PM Rosary, Tuesday evening at the church.
