Luke Joseph Rockers, a son, a brother, and a historian, age 38, of Benbrook, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017, surrounded by his family in Garnett, Kansas. The compassionate and brilliant son of Omer Rockers and Jody (Bell) Cole was born July 13, 1979, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett. As an elementary student, Luke attended Irving Elementary School; he graduated from Anderson County High School with the Class of 1997. Following high school, Luke attended Emporia State University, earning a Bachelor's degree in business in 2001, and a Master's degree in history in 2004. Luke had a passion for history and as a college student; he worked for the college professors in the history department. Luke truly enjoyed daily debates with his college professors over historical events and political issues. He was currently living in Benbrook, Texas, working for Locke Supply Company. Luke spent his leisure time hanging out with friends, golfing, watching sports, reading and going to movies. He will be remembered for his generous heart, kindness towards others, brilliant mind and his love for living life his way. Family, friends and his job were important in his life. Luke was a practical guy whose friends described as quiet, fun, humble, giving, intelligent, and independent. He was loved and respected by his co-workers and customers. Luke's laid-back personality enabled him to live life to the fullest in whatever ways he chose. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Stanley Bell in 2008, and Nita Bell in 2009; infant uncle, Mitchell Bell in 1965; paternal grandparents, Irvin Rockers in 1985, and Margaret Rockers in 1994. Luke is survived by his mother, Jody Cole and husband, Craig, of Garnett; father, Omer Rockers of Garnett; three brothers, Travis Rockers and wife, Casie, and daughter, Korey, of Kincaid, Kansas, Adam Rockers of Everett, Washington, Dylan Cole of Garnett; one sister, Sophia Cole of Garnett; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 17, 2017, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas, burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. The family will greet friends following a 6:30 PM prayer service on Sunday evening at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Garnett Country Club. Condolences may be left at
