Mary Catherine "Cathy" Tyler, 50, of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, December 6, 2009, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. Cathy was born October 17, 1959, in Iola, the daughter of Merl H. and Eva Mae (Smith) Pollman. She graduated from Iola High School in 1978. On August 3, 1979, Cathy married David A. Tyler and they made their home in Iola. She worked for U.S.D. 257 in the school cafeteria for six years. She then did bookkeeping and accounting for several different firms along with owning a couple of consignment stores. She worked for First Title Service Co. before going to work at the courthouse in the treasurer's office. Cathy enjoyed bowling, quilting and going to stockcar races. SURVIVORS: Husband: David Tyler of the home 1 Son: Terry Tyler & wife, Desirae of Pittsburg, KS 1 Daughter: Kristy Sutherland & husband, Chuck of Iola, KS 4 Grandchildren: Breckon, Hallie, Isaac & Tate 2 Brothers: Kenny Beach of Springhill, KS and Bob Pollman of Iola, KS 2 Sisters: Verna Beasley of Girard, KS and Doris King of Houston, TX She was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Yocham. VISITATION: 7:00-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church in Iola. The Chaplain Lloyd Houk and Rev. Jim Rausch will officiate. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, KS MEMORIAL: Allen County Healthcare Foundation (Hospice) Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
