Mae Louise Morris, 91, of Iola, Kansas, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Windsor Place in Iola. Mae was born May 10, 1922, on a farm in Pawnee County near Garfield, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Nellie (Briskey) Buck. She had 3 sisters and 2 brothers. At the age of 2 months they moved from Garfield to Jetmore, Kansas. At the age of six they moved to Dodge City, Kansas where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1940. She married Enve McDaniel in 1941 and they had 6 children together. They lived in several cities in Kansas and Oklahoma before settling in Iola in 1957. Enve and Mae divorced in 1965. In 1970 she married Charles Morris and they continued to live in Iola. Charles preceded her in death in 1989. Mae was a nurse's aide and worked at the McAtee Nursing Home for eleven years. She is one of Jehovah's Witnesses. At the age of 90 she moved to Tara Gardens Living Assistance. She is survived by her children; Ronald McDaniel & wife, Anita of Wamego, KS, Juanita (McDaniel) Burris of Neosho Falls, KS, Wanda (McDaniel) Mangus & husband, Art of Baytown, TX, Nancy (McDaniel) Adams & husband John of LaHarpe, KS, Donald McDaniel & wife Norma of Iola, KS, and Virginia (McDaniel) Peters & husband, Mark of Iola, KS; brother Robert Buck of Quincy, IL; 16 grandchildren and more than 42 great grandchildren and more than 11 great-great grandchildren, 2 stepsons and 1 stepdaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother, 2 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law and 1 son-in-law. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Sat., Jan. 4, 2014, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, where visitation will be an hour prior to the service. She requested no flowers.
