Maralyn D. Nance, age 81 of Iola, Kansas, passed away on December 29, 2021 at Iola, Kansas.

Maralyn Dianne (Horner) born March 15, 1940, in Corvallis, Oregon. Maralyn was the second of three children born to Roy Dean and Gladice Jean (Perkins) Horner. At the age of 6, her family was broken apart due to hardships, her brother, Larry and Maralyn were sent to Children's Farm Home School for two years before being accepted into the foster home of John and Ruth Neiswander of Monroe, Oregon. Her youngest sister, Linda Kay remained with their mother. They reunited at an older age and all were one family once again and the healing commenced.

Maralyn met her husband, Paul Nance in 1967. Paul accepted Maralyn's four children from her previous marriage into his life. Together they added two more daughters, Paula and Sherlyn to the family. Maralyn also accepted Paul's daughters, Vicki and Teresa for a total of eight children.

Maralyn was able to stay home with her children when they were young. After her youngest started school she began working at Haldex, where she worked for over 25 years until retiring. Maralyn and Paul then spent several years working as camp hosts at Big Hill Lake in Cherryvale, Kansas. Maralyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother who loved having her family around and loved each and every one of them whole-heartedly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry; granddaughter, Jordan Dickerson; and a great-grandson, Zyler Haines.

Maralyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul Nance of the home; children, Ramona Cranston and husband, Steve of Newton, Kansas, Toni Gutierrez of Spring Hill, Kansas, Phillip Gutierrez of Pensacola, Florida, Bidal R. Gutierrez of Iola, Kansas, Paula D. Dickerson and husband, Joe of Bronson, Kansas, Sherlyn Tedder and Wally Kerns of Iola, Kansas; one sister, Linda Kay Root of Huntington Beach, California; seven grandchildren, Austin (Mary), Christopher (Kari), and Jessica Kinzle; Anthony Gutierrez; Tristan Dickerson; Paul (Tylor) Tedder; Trinitee (Chris Brallier) Gutierrez; and six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

A memorial service for Maralyn will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Iola, Kansas. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to Wings of Warriors Cancer Foundation, AML Foundation or Integrity Hospice of Fort Scott, Kansas.
