Marceline L Bishop

Marceline Luellen Bishop, age 83, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at the Anderson County Long Term Care Facility, Garnett. She was born on January 19, 1930, in Linn County, Kansas, the daughter of Jake and Ruby (Dinsmore) Huss. She was the oldest of four children. Marceline attended school at Pleasant Ridge and Sullivan one room schools and Parker High School. Marceline was united in marriage to Arthur Kenneth Hodgson on July 20, 1946 at the courthouse in Paola, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children, Patricia Carol and James Kenneth. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1982. She married Raymond L. Bishop on August 4, 1983 in Garnett. Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2001. Marceline and Kenneth farmed near Centerville for 10 years. In 1958, they moved their family to Garnett, Kansas, and continued farming. Marceline worked for Warner Manufacturing, Regal Aluminum and worked for Lester Holderman as a cook. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family. She enjoyed piecing her many quilts of which most were given away to family members and close friends. She also enjoyed baking pies for friends and family. Marceline and Kenneth spent a lot of time camping, fishing, and playing cards with their grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of the VFW. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Ruby Huss; husbands, Kenneth Hodgson and Raymond Bishop. Marceline is survived by her daughter, Patricia Carol Hiner and husband Robert of Garnett, Kansas; son, James Kenneth Hodgson and wife Linda of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Glendina Young and husband Bill of Garnett, Kansas; two brothers, Bobby D. Huss and wife Mary of Elmendorff, Texas; Bernard Huss and wife Janet of Lawrence, Kansas; five grandchildren, Dennis Hiner and wife Andrea of Garnett, Kansas; David Hiner and wife Melissa of Garnett, Kansas; Diane Egger and Raymond "Bink" Watts of Ottawa, Kansas; Joe Hodgson and wife Laura of Topeka, Kansas; Jesse Hodgson and wife Christa of Topeka, Kansas; nine great grandchildren, Ashley and Justin Hiner; Erica and Brady Hiner; Amanda and Colton Egger; Cole and Kaci Hodgson; Faye Hodgson; two great great grandchildren, Ada Stoy and Marlie Betts. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, burial in Garnett Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Marceline Bishop Memorial Fund.
