Margaret Washburn

Margaret Washburn, age 91, of Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Evergreen Community of Johnson County in Olathe, Kansas. She was born November 19, 1917, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Morgan Washburn and Wilna (Edwards) Washburn. At the age of 20, Margaret with her independent spirit, headed west to California where she began a lifetime career as US. Postmaster in Merced, California. Upon retirement, she returned to Garnett to be near her sister. She was a member of the Eastern Star; former member of the First United Methodist Church of Garnett; and active at the Senior Center of Garnett for a number of years. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan and Wilna Washburn; two brothers, Jay and Bob Washburn; and her sister, Virginia Pittman. She will be missed by her expanded family and friends.
