Margarette Henkle, 91, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola. Margarette was born May 17, 1919, near DesMoines, Iowa, the daughter of Loyd Leslie and Itah Gladys (McGhee) Walters. She grew up west of Colony, Kansas, and attended Sunnyside Rural School. On June 30, 1937, Margarette married Oliver Henkle in Iola. They made their home on a farm near Aliceville before moving to Iola in 1946. Margarette was an Avon representative for 59 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Iola, and attended the First Christian Church. She enjoyed bowling and fishing and camping with Oliver. SURVIVORS: Her Husband of 73 years: Oliver Henkle of the home 2 Children: Janice Oberg & companion, Jerry Utley of Iola, KS and Lonnie Henkle & wife, Clarice of Iola, KS 3 Grandchildren: Kenny Graham, Kevin Henkle and Allison Henkle 2 Great Grandchildren: Amanda Graham and Colton Graham She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Keith, Herman and Loyd Walters and a sister, Belva Duncan. VISITATION: 7:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
