Marilyn Helen May, age 87, of Moran, Kansas, passed away January 18, 2021, at Moran Manor, Moran, Kansas. Marilyn was born October 1, 1933, in Iola, Kansas, to Earl Houk and Opal (Sullivan) Houk.
Marilyn grew-up in the farming community northwest of Moran. She graduated in 1951 from Moran Rural High School.
Marilyn and Billie D. May were married January 18, 1952, in Moran, Kansas.
Marilyn enjoyed taking care of her family and made a home for them wherever Bill's work in the oilfields took them. They lived in Colony, Kansas, Chanute, Kansas, Ahwaz, Iran, until they were evacuated when the overthrow of the Shah occurred in 1979, Fairfax, Oklahoma, and Caldwell, Texas. After Bill retired from Halliburton, they managed motels in Denison, Texas, and Muskogee, Oklahoma. They retired to Cleveland, Oklahoma, before moving back to make their final home in Moran, Kansas.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband; son, Tracy May; sisters, Mary Ellen Chalker, Luella (Lou) Cochran; and brothers-in-law, Joe Chalker, Gene Cochran.
Marilyn is survived by daughter-in-law, Kathy May, Houston, Texas; grandson, Joseph Pasket, Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Juliana, Diago, Houston, Texas; sisters, Nancy (Wayne) Chandler, Moran, Kansas, Ruth (David) Spangler, Moran, Kansas; brother-in-law, Mancel (Mary) May, Kingston, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service for Marilyn will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
Inurnment will follow in the Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas.
