Marion Lee Roeder, 73, of rural Colony, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. Marion was born April 20, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Roeder. At the age of 7, he made his home with Kenneth and Anna Heinz who lived northwest of Iola. After living in several communities, he returned to make his home on the Heinz farm. Marion worked for the Allen County road and bridge department for 33 years before retiring. On June 5, 1964, Marion married June Fulton and they made their home in LaHarpe, Kansas for 27 years before returning to the farm northwest of Iola in 2002. SURVIVORS: His wife: June Roeder of the home 2 Sons: Travis Roeder & companion, Janet Stiffler of Altoona, KS and Marvin Roeder of Winfield, KS 1 Daughter: Theresa Strunk & husband, Dan of Iola, KS 8 Grandchildren: Craig & Cory Strunk, Nathan Roeder, Amanda & Brian Roeder, Kyle Slaughter, Travis & Jessica Marie Roeder 7 Great Grandchildren 3 Brothers: Paul, John & William Roeder all of Wichita, KS 2 Sisters: Melvina McLean of Derby, KS and Juanita Nulike of Wichita, KS He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister. VISITATION: 1:00-2:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Cremation will follow the visitation with private family inurnment in the Gas City Cemetery at a later date. MEMORIAL: American Cancer Society Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
