Marjorie "Marge" R. Norman, 88, of Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, January 17, 2009, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola. Marge was born October 7, 1920, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Frank W. and Forrest (Wiggins) Anderson. She graduated from Iola High School and Iola Junior College and then received her bachelors and masters degrees from Emporia State University. On March 1, 1941, Marge married Dean A. Norman and they lived in several communities before moving to Iola in 1957. Marge taught elementary school at Princeton, Kansas and Needles, California before teaching for thirty years at Jefferson Elementary School in Iola. Dean preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1992. Marge was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Iola, where she has served as an elder. She was a past member of the Unity Club, Dirt Diggers Garden Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Laureate Beta Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and the Allen County Retired Teachers Association. SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Stephen Norman & wife, Gail of Iola, Kansas 1 Daughter: Deanna Morgan & husband, Chuck of Salina, Kansas 5 Grandchildren & 2 Step-Grandchildren 5 Great Grandchildren and 5 Step-Great Grandchildren Marge was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Hurst and by two brothers and two sisters. FUNERAL: 11:00a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church in Iola. The Rev. Jim Rausch will officiate. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas MEMORIALS: Suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or the Jefferson Elementary Library.
