Mark Spencer

Mark R. Spencer, age 61, passed away at his home in Welda, Kansas on October 15, 2024 from pancreatic cancer.

Mark Robert Spencer was born on October 18, 1962, at Iola, Kansas. He was the first of two children born to Clifford and Patty (Walden) Spencer. Mark attended Colony schools and graduated with the class of 1980 from Crest High School. He then went on to attend Allen County Community College, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree in 1983.

Mark was a dedicated employee of Herff-Jones in Iola for 31 years where he worked as a graphic designer. In addition to his job at Herff-Jones Mark also ran his taxidermy business on nights and weekends. After Herff-Jones closed in 2015, Mark ran his taxidermy business fulltime until retiring in December of 2023. Mark led a very full life, and had many who loved him. His favorite season was fall, and he greatly enjoyed hunting many types of game.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Clifford, on December 16, 2007; grandparents, Elvin "Curly" and Alma Spencer, and Luther and Bonnie Kinman; and his brother-in-law, Ronald "R.J." West.

Mark is survived by his fiancé, Susan Stiffler; mother, Patty Spencer; sister, Stacy West; daughter, Jaedyn Spencer; two grandsons, Owen and Paxton; and three special girls he helped raise, Tabitha, Rachel, and Heidi. Mark also leaves behind many cousins and other family that he shared a special bond with and countless friends he shared his love of the outdoors with.

Funeral services for Mark will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, October 21, 2024 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery, Colony, Kansas. Mark's family will greet friends the day prior, Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
