Martin Canfield

Martin Jay "Marty" Canfield, 59, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, November 2, 2015, at the Allen County Regional Hospital. Marty was born July 22, 1956, in Independence, Missouri, the son of Clarence and Doris (Hudson) Canfield. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Harlan Beebe. He grew up and attended school in Iola. He served in the U.S. Navy for eleven years. Following his time in the service, he traveled working at nuclear power plants before becoming a field service engineer for Boiler Controls. Marty married Valerie Reed. They had two sons and later divorced. On March 15, 2000, he married Cheryl A. Cranor. They moved to Iola in 2004 from Ft. Smith, Virginia. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Canfield of the home; two sons, Michael Canfield and Matthew Canfield both of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; step-daughter Golda Canfield; three brothers, Rick Hudson of North Carolina, Ronald Canfield & wife, Patricia of Maryland and Steven Canfield & wife, Kimmie of Florida; 7 grandchildren, 2 nephews and 1 niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas. Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
