Marvin Gerald Vasterling, age 66 of Westphalia, Kansas, passed away on July 11, 2010, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on December 18, 1943 at Austin, Texas, the son of Marvin Daniel and Dossie (Haller) Vasterling. He attended McCallum High School in Austin. He then attended the University of Texas for two years. While there, he was a member of the Longhorns Marching Band. Marvin spent two years in the Navy, and two years in the Marine Corps, working for the Medical Corps while there. His most recent work was in Hospital Administration at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas. Marvin is survived by one sister, Louise Flood of Westphalia, Kansas; and one brother, Leslie Vasterling of Rockdale, Texas; one niece, Cathy (Mueller) Roberts of Dallas, Texas; four nephews, Jimmy Vasterling of Kingsland, Texas; Leslie Vasterling, Jr. of Tarpon, Florida; Danny Flood of Marble Falls, Texas; Rick Flood of Westphalia, Kansas; and also many cousins. No services are planned at this time. A private family service will be held at a later date.
