Mary Bass

Mary Ann Bass, 51, of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas. Mary was born April 24, 1959 in Marshfield, Missouri the daughter of Joe and Mary Arline (Silkey) Vestal. She grew up in the Marshfield area where she started interior and exterior home painting. She returned to school and became a Certified Nurse's Aide and worked in nursing homes where she enjoyed helping others. She moved to Iola 12 years ago from Marshfield. Mary loved her children and grandchildren. She shared with them her love for cooking, canning, scrapbooking, gardening and camping. She attended the Harvest Baptist Church in Iola when her health permitted. SURVIVORS: Her Fiance: Randy Schalck of the home 3 Daughters: Amanda Reiter & husband, Adam of Iola, KS; Crystal Hall & husband, Thomas of Iola, KS and Melinda Wahl of Iola, KS 14 Grandchildren: Devan, Dylon, Haily, Drayden, Ana, Klairissa, Kamri, Keisha, Thomas Jr., Kevin, Domonic, Shavanna, Justin and Elizabeth 8 Brothers and Sisters She was preceded in death by her parents. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at the Chapel in the Colony Cemetery. Pastor David Shelby will officiate.
