Mary Lou Brinkmeyer, age 81, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Richmond Healthcare Center, Richmond, Kansas. She was born August 25, 1934, at home in Ottawa, Kansas. Mary Lou was the third of five children born to Joseph Leroy Humbert, Sr. and Lenora (Finch) Humbert. She graduated from Greeley High School with the class of 1952. On April 23, 1954 she married Ben Lee Brinkmeyer, at Garnett. This union was blessed with one son and one daughter. Mary Lou worked as a dispatcher for the Anderson County Sheriff's Department and then in the office of the Anderson County Treasurer's office. She later worked for the Garnett Publishing Company. Mary Lou was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #6397 and was a Past President of District 2. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on May 18, 2005; brother, Joe Humbert, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Jack Angell; sister, Lenora "Snooky" Honn; nephew, Mike Honn. She is survived by her son, Mick Brinkmeyer and his wife Karen of Garnett, Kansas; her daughter, Chris Brooks and her husband David of Huntsville, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Becky Crawford of Topeka, Kansas; and Scott Brinkmeyer of Overland Park, Kansas; two great granddaughters, Camryn and Brett Crawford; brother, Jim and Ann Humbert, Camdenton, Missouri; brother-in-law, Martin Honn, of Ottawa, Kansas; sister-in-law, Joan Humbert, of Garnett; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Garnett Cemetery Flag Fund and left in care of the funeral home.
