Mary Jo Donnici, age 87, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mary Josephine Goode was born on December 27, 1936, in Shawnee, Kansas. She was the fourth of eleven children born to Frank Joseph and Freda Frances (Agnitsch) Goode. Mary Jo graduated from St. Joseph High School in Shawnee. She was united in marriage to Sam Donnici Jr. in 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas. Their union was blessed with six children; Salvatore, Susan, John, Mary Rose, James, and Joseph.
Mary Jo was devoted to her faith and family, throughout her life they were her first priority. As her children were growing up she was strong, but kind and gentle. With grandchildren she became Gigi and she made sure to keep birthdays special by making each of their favorite cakes. Gigi spent countless hours playing games and working on puzzles, but her famous chocolate chip cookies made every get together special. Mary Jo and Sam and their family were founding members of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Since 1970 the church has been an integral part of her daily life as she was an active member of the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. For many years Mary Jo was responsible for cleaning and ironing the church linens. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother, praying the Rosary several times each day. Mary Jo enjoyed her "scratchies", McDonalds coke and fish filets, and crossword puzzles. She will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren as well as her siblings and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam Donnici Jr.; three brothers, Frank Goode, Daniel Goode, William Goode; two sisters, Jeanette Goode, Margaret Sweeney
Mary Jo is survived by her six children, Sam and Alanna Donnici, Susie and John Roth, John Donnici, Roses Ammon, Jimmy and Jill Donnici, and Joe and Christine Donnici; 16 grandchildren, Jenny Mills, Tina and Gene Bode, Lisa Donnici, Laura Donnici, Mary Kate Donnici, Dan Roth, Alison Roth, James Roth, Matt Roth, Nick and Hanah Ammon, Tori Donnici, James Donnici, Isabella Donnici, Joseph Donnici, Sammy Donnici, and Sophia Donnici; three great-grandchildren, Lee Burt, Malcolm and Ryker Bode; four brothers and one sister, Robert and Dolores Goode, Fredrick Goode, Donald and Terry Goode, Geraldine Gadwood, and James Goode; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. Vincent De Paul, 3106 Flora Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64109, burial will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64138. Mary Jo's family will greet friends at the church from 8:00 AM until the start of the Mass.
