Mary Adams Finkenbinder, age 103, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

Mary Lucinda Patton was born on June 5, 1920 at Garnett, Kansas. She was the only child born to Joe and Kathryn (Blum) Patton. Mary grew up on a farm east of Garnett and graduated from Garnett High School. Following high school, Mary taught school in a country school near Garnett. Mary would meet her future husband at a cake walk, where she was playing the piano. On December 21, 1940, Mary was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Earl Adams Jr. at Pomona, Kansas. Their union was blessed with three children, Linda, Kathy, and Bob. Mary and Bob initially made their home in Wichita, Kansas. Mary returned to Garnett, while Bob was serving in the military and stationed overseas. After Bob returned from his military service they made their home on Mary's family farm east of Garnett. Mary worked alongside Bob and her parents on the farm. Mary, Bob and daughter, Kathy, purchased The Burgerteria in January of 1977. After 37 years of marriage Bob passed away from cancer on March 28, 1977. Mary and Kathy continued to operate The Burgerteria for fifteen years. In 1981, Mary married Keith Finkenbinder, he preceded her in death on February 22, 1984.

Mary was very active in many community organizations throughout her life. Her church involvement was an essential part of her weekly activities. She was an active and faithful member of the Garnett First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, and organized countless church dinners. She was an Hospital Auxiliary volunteer for many years and continued until she was 100 years old. While her children were growing up, Mary was an active leader of the Star Shooting 4-H Club and served as a Community and Project Leader. She also volunteered for the Anderson County Historical Society. In 2009, Mary was named Hospital Volunteer of the Year, she was also honored to be chosen as a volunteer of the year by the Anderson County Extension Council.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Earl Adams Jr.; her husband, Keith Finkenbinder; daughter, Linda Marie Adams in 1987; and her son in law, Dale Finkenbinder in 2014.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Kathy Norris and husband, Terry of Garnett; her son, Bob Adams of Wichita, Kansas; one granddaughter, Reva Pracht and husband, John of Westphalia, Kansas; four great grandchildren, Tyler Pracht and Nicole, Storm Pracht and Ashleigh, Ridge Pracht, and Hope Pracht; and two great great grandsons.

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. Mary's family will greet friends prior to the service from 9:30 AM until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson County 4-H Foundation or to the Anderson County Hospital Auxiliary and left in care of the funeral home.
