Mary Kathryn Jackson, 87, former Iola, Kansas resident and presently of Augusta, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Lake Point Nursing Home in Augusta. Kay was born March 31, 1922 in Gladbrook, Iowa the daughter of J. Andrew and Zella "Pudge" (Horton) Sebbert. The family moved to Humboldt, Kansas and she graduated from high school there. She was a registered nurse and received her degree from St. Joseph Nursing School in Ft. Scott, Kansas. On March 5, 1944, Kay married Harry L. Jackson in Ft. Scott. They lived in several communities before moving to Iola in 1966. She worked as a registered nurse maily in nursing homes until her retirement. Her husband preceded her in death on June 23, 1996. When her health failed she moved to Augusta to be near her family. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society. SURVIVORS: 2 Sons: Bob Jackson & wife Marsha and Bill Jackson & wife, Pat all of Augusta, KS 1 Daughter: Jean Shetlar & husband, Lloyd of Augusta, KS 1 Brother: Gary Sebbert & wife, Judy of Muscatine, Iowa 2 Sisters: Arlys Sakata of Topeka, KS and Shirley Breiner of Humboldt, KS 9 Grandchildren & 14 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack & Bob Sebbert and her sister, Jane Wilkerson. VISITATION: 2:00-3:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt. MEMORIAL: Grace Lutheran Church of Iola, KS Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
