Mary Jean Langton, 53, of Moran, Kansas, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas. Mary Jean was born July 8, 1957, at Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of Tommy Kenneth "Buck" and Verle M. (Williams) Rhodes. She grew up and attended school at Cherryvale, Kansas where she participated in scouts, 4-H and played girl's softball. She also delivered the Parson's Sun as a junior high student. She worked as an E.M.T. in the Moran area and trained as an electrician. On January 2, 1981 she gave birth to Joshua Neal Hammond. Mary worked as an over the road truck driver before owning her own trucking company, "Wanna Be Trucking." She raised and showed confirmation goats as "Wanna Be Farms" supplying the efforts of the "Feed Africa" program. On October 3, 2001, Mary married Jim Langton. She was a member of the Savonburg Evangelical Church. SURVIVORS: Husband: Jim Langton of the home Mother: Verle M. Rhodes of Moran, KS Son: Josh Hammond of Kansas City, MO Step-Daughter: Miranda Langton of Buna, TX Step-Sons: Nathan Langton and Eric Langton both of California 2 Sisters: Peggy Gragg & husband, Mike of Grove, OK and Sue Rhodes of Morgantown, NC 1 Brother: Roy D. "Stub" Rhodes & wife, Lu Ann of Cherryvale, KS and a dog named Boo She was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Kenneth "Buck" Rhodes in July and by an infant brother, Kenneth Ray Rhodes. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
