Mary Joan Lear

Mary J. Lear, 84, passed away January 20, 2019 near her home in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  She was born in Iola, Kansas where she attended and graduated from Iola High School.  She also attended and worked for Allen County Community College.  Mary lived in Florida, Arkansas and Kansas, making many lifelong friends in each place.  She loved the beach, animals, reading, motorcycling and her Chiefs. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Jewel A. McGie and her father, William W. McGie, her husband of 47 years, Charles F. Lear, her sister, Barbara Klier and one brother, William "Billy" McGie. She is survived by her two sons, Douglas J. Lear and Jon W. Lear; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as an extended family and mny friends. A memorial service followed by visiting with the family will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1883 US HWY 54, Iola, Kansas 66749.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donating to a local animal welfare group to help protect the animals she loved.
