Mary Lucille Rice, 82, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016, at the Moran Manor. Lucy was born July 21, 1934, in Oologah, Oklahoma, the 2nd oldest of seven children born to Oscar Samuel and Mary Ellen (Hamilton) McGill. She graduated from Alluwe High School in 1951. On July 18, 1952, Lucille married Harold Rice and they made their home on a ranch near Chelsea, Oklahoma. In 1957, they moved to a farm on the Neosho River northwest of Iola, Kansas. Besides being a farm and ranch wife, Lucy worked as a secretary for Lancer Oil in Piqua from 1981 to 2008. They moved into Iola to live in 2010 and Harold preceded her in death December 12, 2014. Survivors include her 3 children; Gary Rice of Austin, TX, Rick Rice & wife, Alfy of rural Iola, KS and Tanya Beyer & husband, Kent of Gridley, KS; 2 brothers, Robert McGill & wife, Jean of Chelsea, OK and Jerry McGill & wife, Glenda of Grove, OK; 4 sisters, Pauline McMahan of Chelsea, OK, Betty Cook of New Braunfels, TX, Darlene Maggard of Chelsea, OK and Margaret Noland of Alluwe, OK; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Inurnment will be in the Chelsea Cemetery in Chelsea, Oklahoma at a later date.
