Mary Pearl Mullins, age 103, of rural Westphalia, Kansas passed away April 28, 2012 at her home. Pearl was born on December 9, 1908 near Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Herman Alexander Mace and Nora Mae (Sutton) Mace. Her family moved to the Westphalia area when she was a young girl, and she lived the rest of her life in the area. On November 14, 1929 Pearl married Glen Franklin Mullins at Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with five children. Pearl was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, mowing her yard and being outdoors. She also liked to make pillows and rugs for family and friends, making over 300 pillows. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glen, on May 26, 1983; an infant daughter and two infant sons; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters. She is survived by her two sons, Jim Mullins of Garnett, and Richard Mullins and wife, Mary Ann, of Rantoul, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Mace and wife, Doii, of Garnett; and sister, Gilma Beckman of Kingman, Arizona. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Mont Ida Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in the Mont Ida Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Luke's Hospice and left in care of the funeral home.
