Mary Helen Selander, age 88, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Anderson County Long Term Care in Garnett, Kansas. She was born on March 26, 1924, in Humboldt, Kansas, the daughter of Michael J. and Anna (Achter) Ohmes. She graduated from Greeley High School. Mary Helen was united in marriage to Howard Selander on February 23, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri. This union was blessed with five children. They moved from Titusville, Pennsylvania then to Greeley, Kansas in 1949, where they made their home. Mary Helen enjoyed quilting and knitting. She was an avid Kansas City Royals and KU Jayhawks fan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard Selander on January 13, 2011; an infant son, Richard Joseph Selander; one granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Eastwood. Mary Helen is survived by four daughters, Mary Leanna Eastwood-Tallmon and husband Ralph Tallmon of Greeley, Kansas; Colette Ruth Feuerborn and husband David of Greeley, Kansas; Karen Renee Tatum and husband Steve of Greeley, Kansas; Stephanie Marie Selander-Decker and husband Kirk Decker of Blue Springs, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Kristina Selander; Nicholas Eastwood-Tallmon; Anna Bishop; Christian Feuerborn; Natalie Miller; Rachel Caldwell; Rebekah Steele; Mary Feuerborn; Andrew Feuerborn; Abigail Crismas; Nicole Crismas; Olivia Decker; Avery Decker; Elliott Decker; and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Greeley, Kansas. Family will greet friends following a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care.
