Mary White

April 7, 1928 — August 15, 2024

Mary Frances White, age 96, passed away peacefully in Iola, Kansas, on August 15, 2024. She was born on April 7, 1928, in Mapleton, Kansas, to Frank and Alma Regan.

During her elementary years, Mary attended the historic one-room school, Baker School in Bourbon County. After completing eighth grade, she continued her education in Bronson and Blue Mound.

Following high school, Mary worked at Western Insurance Company in Fort Scott. It was there she met her future sister-in-law, Shirley. Shirley introduced her to Bob White, and they were later married on July 29, 1949, at St. Patrick's Church in Fulton, Kansas. Together, they had two children, Robert Matthew (Matt) and Mary Kristina (Kris) and raised their family in Iola, Kansas.

Mary's love for her community was evident in her active participation at St. John's Catholic Church and her involvement in the Red Hat Society. She selflessly volunteered at the Iola Senior Center and adored animals, especially dogs and cardinals. She was known for her exceptional culinary skills and loved to host dinner parties for family and friends. Mary was known for her quick wit and love for game shows, especially Family Feud with Steve Harvey. She cherished talking with friends and family on the phone, making sure to stay connected with her loved ones.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Alma; her husband Robert (Bob); her daughter, Kris Rourk; and her brother, Dan Reagan.

She is lovingly remembered by her son and his wife, Matt and Bobbey; her grandchildren, Karri Haen Whitmer (Chris), Ryan White (Theresa), and Brooke White (Jordan Massingill); her brother and his wife, Pat and Alice Reagan; her beloved aunt, Yvonne Short; and her eight great-grandchildren, Taylor, Andrew, Gabriella, Brynn, Olivia, Ethan, Lily, and Brett.

Mary will be laid to rest in a private burial next to her husband, Bob, in St. Michael's Cemetery, Fulton, Kansas.

In honor of Mary's life and in tribute to her love for animals, memorial contributions can be made to the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) in La Harpe, Kansas. Memorials may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
