Marybelle Ada Pruitt, age 87, of Aurora, Colorado passed away at home on Monday, January 14, 2013 after a battle with liver cancer. Her children Russell and Sharon were with her. Born in Allen County, Kansas on May 1, 1925, Mary was one of eleven children of Raymond Uriah Jackson and Bertha Viola Colgin. Mary grew up on a farm in Allen County, Kansas, where she attended public schools. She attended Mildred High School for her first three years of high school and her senior year was at Moran High School. She graduated from Moran High School May 20, 1943. She also graduated from Motel Managers Training School August 30, 1971. On July 8 1944, Mary married Arthur Pruitt at Garrett, Kansas. They resided in Iola, Kansas and had two children, Russell Arthur and Sharon Ann. Mary worked at the Majestic Motel and the Allen County Hospital there in Iola, Kansas. They moved to Kansas City, Kansas where Mary worked for the Shawnee Mission Hospital, Mission, Kansas. Then they moved to Mound City, Kansas where Arthur passed away July 17, 1980. In 1981 she moved to Aurora, Colorado, where she worked at a motel until she retired. Mary enjoyed doing crocheting, knitting, tatting, embroidery, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and traveling. She won several awards for here crocheting. Gave away many of her crochet projects to relatives as Christmas and Birthday gifts. She was an active member of several churches where she has lived. The First Baptist Church, Iola, Kansas, The Federated Church, Mound City, Kansas, and the Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church, Aurora, Colorado. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Arthur; two sisters, Verlin and Joan; and two brothers, Gilbert and Dorwin. She is survived by her two children, Russell of Aurora, Colorado and Sharon of Truckee, California; three sisters, Velva, Evelyn and Jessie, three brothers, Darrell, Paul and LeRoy; granddaughter, Katrina; and two great grandchildren, Darrien and Jasmine. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 344 N. Cedar, Moran, Kansas. Inurnment will follow in the Moran Cemetery.
