MaryRose McGowan

MaryRose McGowan, 86, of Iola, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Windsor Place in Iola. MaryRose was born March 10, 1926, at Hooven, Ohio, the daughter of John William and Margaret T. (Craig) Taylor. She grew up in Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana and then Argo, Illinois where she met her future husband. On August 30, 1941, MaryRose married Robert J. McGowan at Greenville, Kentucky. Following his time in the service, they made their home in the Chicago area. After they retired, they moved to Iola in 1989. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1999. MaryRose was an artist who enjoyed reading, collecting dolls, listening to country music and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Iola Church of Christ. SURVIVORS: 4 Daughters: Colleen McGowan, IL, Janice Evans, KS, Sharon Evans & husband, George, IL, and Carol McGowan, IN 5 Sons: Willard McGowan & wife, Nancy, MO, Doyle McGowan & wife, Darcy of MI, Robert McGowan & wife, JoAnn of IL, James McGowan & wife, Irene, IL and Scott McGowan & wife, Christine, IL 22 Grandchildren: Cherlyn Voss, Sondra Seal, Lauri Seal, Lisa Jett,Julie Evans, Robert Evans, Amanda Blake, Kelly Garza, Adam Pruchnicki, Amber Imbrogno, Brittane Pruchnicki, Sean McGowan, Christine McGowan, Jeremy McGowan, Robert J. McGowan, Autumn Perry, Taylor Evans, Summer Perry, Shane Evans, Constance Stewart, Jennifer McGowan and Mason McGowan 25 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, David Seal, MaryRose McGowan, and Grace McGowan. VISITATION & FUNERAL SERVICE: Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, where the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
