Maxine D. Sherrill, 79, of Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the Moran Manor. Maxine was born October 20, 1929, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Frank T. and Marguerite E. (Taylor) Dennison, Sr. She grew up in the Iola area and then moved with her family to Kansas City where she graduated from Northeast High School. She moved to Miami, Florida where she pursued a career as an executive for the Seaboard Insurance Company. On October 28, 1957, Maxine married F.T. Sherrill and they eventually moved to Allen County to be near her parents. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1982. In Iola she worked fourteen years for the Wesley United Methodist Church and then helped care for several elderly in the community. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and her passion in life was to help others. SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter: Susan Springeman of Iola, KS 1 Brother: Frank Dennison, Jr. of Moran, KS 4 Grandchildren who she raised: Jaime Garrett and James, David and Charlie Glaze 4 Great Grandchildren: Brecken Collins, Jaron Sexton, Kendall Glaze and Everett Glaze. An Aunt: Maxine Rei of Iola, KS She was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Dietrich. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola. The Rev. Trudy Kenyon Anderson will officiate. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas MEMORIAL: Wesley United Methodist Church Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
