Melodee Kay McEndree, 62, of rural Elsmore, Kansas passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 2, 2017 near Elsmore, as the result of an accident. She was born August 9, 1955 in Fort Scott, Kansas to Robert "Bob" and Virginia (Anderson) Lyons. She mainly grew up in Fort Scott, moved to Houston in 1970, and graduated from Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Texas. She returned to Fort Scott shortly after high school. She attended Fort Scott Community College, and began her family with two daughters in Fort Scott. She married Charlie J. McEndree in Miami, Oklahoma in November of 1989. They made their home in rural Elsmore, where they had two more daughters. She lived in rural Elsmore throughout her remaining years. She worked as a CNA in several nursing facilities, most recently Greystone in Iola. She loved the people she cared for, and those that she worked with; they loved her dearly in return. She loved all her animals, with her horses being her greatest passion, second only to her daughters and granddaughters. She enjoyed reading and fresh garden produce. She will long be remembered for her genuine kindness to people and animals. Survivors include her husband, Charlie, of the home; daughters, Amy Heinz and husband Jacob of Katy, Texas, Katie Stipp and husband Cody of Thayer, Kansas, Jamee Byram and husband Deloyd of St. Augustine, Florida; granddaughters, Ivy Heinz and Willow Stipp; mother, Virginia Williams of Houston, Texas; sister, Honey Doan of Katy, Texas; sister in law, Nancy McEndree of La Harpe, Kansas; father in law, Elmer McEndree, of La Harpe; a nephew, Jason Doan and wife Marissa of Huntsville, Texas; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Melodee was preceded in death by her daughter, Mandy Cowan; her father, Bob Lyons; brother, Jeff Lyons; brother in law, Chet McEndree; and mother in law, Ruth McEndree. Funeral services will be Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas. Visitation will be the evening prior from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., also at the new funeral home location. Burial will follow the service in the Evergreen Cemetery at Fort Scott.
