Merrill E. Truster, age 100, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at Windsor Place in Iola, surrounded by his family. Merrill was born July 1, 1913, in Humboldt, the son of Charles N. and Virdie O. (Glenn) Truster. He attended school in Humboldt. On August 7, 1937, Merrill married Mae Beaty and they lived on a farm southwest of Iola for 63 of their 76 years of marriage. Merrill was a retired LeHigh Cement employee, dairy farmer, Pet Milk Co. route driver, and a part time employee of Western Auto. SURVIVORS: His wife: Mae Truster of the home 4 Daughters: Leona Reams & husband, Gene of Iola, Rowene Helwick & husband, Jimmie of Topeka, KS, Violet Malson of Blue Springs, MO, and Linda Boothe & husband, Fred of Colorado Springs, CO 1 Sister: Glennis Stillwell & husband, Earl of Corvalis, OR 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by 4 sisters, baby Wanda Truster, Edna Smith, Thelma Garner and Helon King, son-in-law Bill Brecheisen, grandson Timothy Gibson and granddaughter Susan Brecheisen. Merrill was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed. He was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church. VISITATION: 7:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at Salem United Methodist Church southwest of Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Salem United Methodist Church southwest of Iola. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas MEMORIAL: Salem United Methodist Church Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
