Michael Larry Hendrix

Michael Larry Hendrix, age 60, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020, in Liberty, Missouri.

He was born March 20, 1959, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Reta S. Locke (Dyson) and Larry W. Hendrix. He grew up in Overland Park, Kansas where he met his wife, Kellie L. Christy, while attending high school at Shawnee Mission West. They were united in marriage on February 2, 1978.

Michael worked in the construction business as a skilled laborer in pipe laying and concrete masonry in the Local 1290 Construction & General Laborers Union. In the early 2000s, he started his own Landscaping business, which he retired from in 2014. During this time he also was the sole caregiver for his wife for 10+ years.

Michael and his wife Kellie enjoyed spending time with family, camping, fishing and gardening. Michael loved spending time outside, gardening, grilling, sitting around the fire, smoking meats or playing with his grandchildren outside.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Kellie, on October 25, 2016.

Michael is survived by his parents, Reta Locke and her husband, Danny, of Paola, Kansas; Larry Hendrix and his wife, Marilyn, of Overland Park, Kansas; his sister, Michelle Johnson, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his daughter, Erika Hendrix, of Kansas City, Missouri; his son, Jeremy Hendrix, of Ottawa, Kansas; and six grandchildren, Gabriel, Austin, Serena, Hannah, Nicholas and Kaelynn.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27th, 2020, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Services, 219 S. Oak, Garnett, Kansas.
