Mignonette "Mig" L. Kelley, age 80, of LaHarpe, Kansas passed away May 13, 2016 at her home. Mig was born July 26, 1935 at Roseville, California, the daughter of Charles "Carlos" Ralph Schmitt and Celia (Cirby) Schmitt. She grew up in Roseville, graduating from high school there. She earned her Associates Degree from the American River Community College. On January 16, 1951 she was united in marriage to James K. Kelley at Roseville. This union was blessed with six children. She worked for the California Highway Patrol Credit Union while they lived in Roseville. In 1980 they moved to Williamsburg, Kansas before moving to Moran, Kansas and then settling in their current home in LaHarpe in 1986. She worked as a security guard for Russell Stovers Candies in Iola for over 17 years. Mig loved to raise tomatoes and beautiful flowers, but she was proudest of her grandchildren. She was a very loving person, who smiled easily and was willing to put the needs of others above her own. Mig was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, on February 7, 2013; two sons, James Dennis and Carlos Coy; daughter, Teresa Lee Barber; and two sons-in-law, Rev. Steven King, and Thomas Barber. She is survived by her son, Bryan Kelley and wife, Tina, of Piqua, Kansas; two daughters, Debra Kelley of Iola, Kansas, and Jolene Louise King of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two brothers, Lauren Schmitt and wife, Rose, of Sacramento, California and Kirby Schmitt and wife, Tammy, of Garden Valley, California; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Hope Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
