Mildred A. Link, 94, former Piqua resident, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at Atchison Senior Village in Atchison, Kansas. Mildred was born June 14, 1914, at Piqua, Kansas, to Frank and Frances (Sicka) Lampe. She attended Piqua Public School and St. Martin's Parish School. On September 26, 1934, she married Valentine "Vallie" Link and they lived and farmed southwest of Piqua until moving to Iola in 1991. She was a cook for many years in restaurants and nursing homes in Yates Center and Iola. They lived in Olathe for a brief time before he preceded her in death on April 20, 2003. Mildred moved to Atchison in October of 2006. Mildred was a member of St. Martin's Altar Society and a community quilting circle for more than 50 years. Survivors include 4 sons; Alvin Link & wife, Barbara of Pueblo, CO, David Link & wife, Sandy of Williamsburg, KS, Ronald Link & wife, Sandy of San Jose, CA, and Frank Link & wife, Constance of Atchison, KS; 2 Sisters, Agnes Eisenbart of Stratton, CO, and Ellen Haugen of Campbell, CA; 1 Sister-in-law, Ruth Lampe of Piqua, KS; 14 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Link, granddaughter, Kathy Link Bussey, brothers Raymond, Neil and Albert Lampe and sister, Margaret Heffern. The parish rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 15, 2008, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Piqua, Kansas, followed by the mass at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery in Piqua. Memorials are suggested to St. Martin's Cemetery Fund and may be left at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
