Mildred D. Rombach, 93, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, February 17, 2012, at Tara Gardens in Iola. Mildred was born October 5, 1918, at Piqua, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph E. and Frances (Bux) Kress. She grew up on the family farm west of Piqua. On November 15, 1939, Mildred married George C. Rombach at Piqua. They made their home in Humboldt a short time before moving to Iola. She worked for the honey factory and dress factory in Iola, during her younger years. George preceded her in death on February 23, 1999. Mildred was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Iola. She enjoyed word searches. SURVIVORS: Her Daughter: Mary A. Smith of Kansas City, Missouri 2 Grandchildren: Scott Smith & wife Maggie of Andover, Kansas and Stasia Ohmie & husband, Brian of Fort Worth, Texas 2 Great Grandchildren: Nora & Brady Smith She was preceded in death by her son-in-law: David Eugene Smith, and by 3 sisters, Loretta Burke, Janice Heckman and Georgiana Hallam. VISITATION: 6:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. ROSARY & MASS: The parish rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, followed by the celebration of the mass at 10:30 a.m. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas MEMORIALS IN LIEU OF FLOWERS ARE SUGGESTED TO: Allen County Hospice, Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) or St. John's Catholic Church Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangments.
