Myrtle Johnson

Myrtle Grace Johnson, 87, formerly of Moran, Kansas, went to meet the Lord April 25, 2012, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center in Nevada, Missouri. Myrtle was born January 27, 1925, to William A. and Hazel F. (Powell) Tharp in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. She was married October 6, 1945 to Warren M. Johnson who preceded her in death March 13, 2012. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker, and worked at the Allen County Extension office for 39 years. She and her husband, Warren, also farmed in the Moran, Kansas area. She was a member of the former Presbyterian Church in Moran. Survivors include several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, three sisters, Earnestine Preston, Mosline Sloan, Donnis Boyer and one brother, Bill Tharp, Jr. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, where the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. BURIAL: Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas MEMORIAL: Allen County 4-H Council Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
