Nila Truitt

Nila Marie Truitt, 91, of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Iola Nursing Center. Nila was born May 14, 1922, in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas, the daughter of Houston and Margaret (Bearden) Russell. On March 17, 1945, Nila married J.H. Truitt and they made their home in Arkansas until moving to Kansas in 1952. In 1960, they moved to Iola. She was a nurses aid and worked at Allen County Hospital before retiring. Mr. Truitt preceded her in death December 8, 2011. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Iola. SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Gary Truitt of Russell, Kansas 1 Daughter: Phyllis Truitt of Springdale, Arkansas 1 Sister: Wanda Arnold of Searcy, Arkansas 3 Grandchildren FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, with visitation following the service.
