Nina S. Thompson, age 69, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.
Nina Sue Hartman was born on June 4, 1951, at Colony, Kansas. She was the first of five children born to Kenneth and Nellie (Hickman) Hartman. Nina grew up in the Kincaid area and graduated from Crest High School in 1969. On February 23, 1971, Nina was united in marriage to Bryan W. Thompson in Garnett, Kansas. Their union was blessed with seven children. Nina worked for over thirteen years as a cook for the West Franklin High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Buffy Thompson; two sisters, Rose Covey and Jeanne Eravi; her father-in-law, Wayne Thompson; mother-in-law, Ina Jean Thompson.
Nina is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bryan Thompson, of the home; children, Lorna Baylor and husband, Kelly of Chanute,Kenneth F. Thompson and wife, Jaime of Pomona, Donna Durkee and Ryan Farnsworth of Marysville, Washington, Mari McCullough and husband, David of Pomona, Aaron Thompson of Ottawa, Judson Thompson and wife, Kelley of Pomona, and Ezekiel Thompson and wife, Channing of Lawrence; twenty-one grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren; one sister and three brothers, Sally Powelson and husband, Steve, Gene Hartman and wife, Kristi, Dale Hartman and wife, Shirley, and Charles Bohnert and wife, Joyce.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Centerville, Kansas. Nina's family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett.
