Norma Yancey

Norma L. Yancey, 70, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. Norma was born August 8, 1943 in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Fayma (Garner) Yancey. She moved with her family to Iola in 1955. She worked as a waitress, in nursing homes and did home care for the State of Kansas before retiring. SURVIVORS: Companion: Dewey Gambill of Iola, KS 1 Brother: Donnie Yancey of Iola, KS 1 Sister: Mary Ann Garton of Lathrop, MO Half-Brother: Dennis Vaughn of Fayetteville, AR Step-Brother: Russell Vaughn of Iola, KS 2 Step-Sisters: Billie Jo Verdot of St. Louis, MO and Betty Bowers She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father Paul Vaughn, half-brother Charles Cornell and step-sister Phyllis Vaughn. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Noon-2:00 p.m. Sat., Dec. 28, 2013, at the North Community Building in Iola. All are welcome to participate in the potluck luncheon.
